 "Menu" as it is known was considered a treasure of old and was considered one of the 7 treasures along with gold, silve, lapiz lazuli, glass, coral and others.

Recently, they have become popular as power stones, thought to be beneficial to luck, fortune and health and are sometimes embedded into the sides of stone baths for example.
